we either joyfully or sadly recall past christmas holidays.
as i recall, they were controversial in our family even before i was born.. im going to go back a couple of generations in my story to give you a bit of background.

THIS IS MY STORY (And I'm Sticking To It)
by snowbird ini joined this forum on 1may2007 with a promise that i would tell more about myself as time went on.
well, here goes.. i was born and raised in the black belt of alabama in wilcox county.
it is supposedly called the black belt due to the color of the soil, but i have a strong suspicion it is also due to the fact that there is such a heavy concentration of black people in the dozen or more counties that make up the black belt.. my parents were sharecroppers which was simply a form of whitewashed slavery.

Good for you, Snowbird. I'm glad you're able to get your daughter to go to school instead of pioneering. Maybe you can also insist that she sign up for a comparative religion course and/or some philosophy. That might get her into questioning mode. Best wishes to you and her! It is very cool that you learned to read from the coffee can. A story that's good to the last drop!

You chance to be heard!
by pratt1 inhere's the scenrio:.
you have the captive audience of all the witlesses that you have associated with and loved in the past (including family members) but now shun you, for 5 minutes.. you most chose one and only one topic to proved that their religion is false and not based on love.. 1. who would you pick to be part of this audience?.
2. what topic would you choose to discuss?

Only five minutes? That would not be long enough to prove the facts. Are we allowed to do a PowerPoint presentation, too?

Snakes, you had me LOL because my sons will do their own laundry ....one item at a time which makes me crazy so I forbid them unless they have a full load. Well, ofcourse that does not coincide with their social/school/sleep schedule.
So its back to mom.......I can't help but laugh and then....SWEAR Big Time!!!!!!!
r.
Are they not 'playing' you to get out of doing it themselves? Maybe you could start bleaching coloreds by "accident" and then they might think twice about who should be doing the wash . . . just a thought . . .

Elders' wives and elders' kids - any different from the RnF?
by Inquisitor inelder's wives - the general impression of them in my congregation is that they are not to be messed with.
ews are all smiles in front of guests but brutally unaccomodating to more familiar brothers and sisters.
they put much effort in making "good" comments at the meetings, with the occasional veiled insult directed at certain individuals (i suppose this is the only outlet for a lady in jehovah's patriarchy).

Geez . . . my poor, overbearing, hen-pecked dad was the most guilt-complexed person I've probably ever known; and that guilt complex made it possible for him to guilt it over on others . . . does that make sense?

maybe growing up as both an elder's daughter and sometimes not as an elder's daughter makes it hard for me to communicate my experience/observation.
The elders are indeed the biggest followers of all. How could they not be? They have to control, based on some book orders from a publishing company's guru overseers. They are corporate religionists and the stockholders are the other publishers; elders are the selected few who come from the most brainwashed of the brainwashed.
Does that clarify it?

If the b@tch is still supporting a charged sex offender, I say, put the d@mn Christmas decor up all f@cking year long, and good for you for doing it. And have a big, f@cking Christmas party once a month. You'll make lots of new friends and they will help you forget about the hags. go for it. live your life; she can live hers, right?
